Halcyon Coffee — “Slow Morning”

A single-take, single-location brand spot for Halcyon Coffee shot entirely with practical morning light.

“Slow Morning” is a forty-five second brand spot for Halcyon Coffee Roasters, shot in a single continuous take inside the client’s own roastery between 6:40 and 7:20am to use the building’s east-facing windows as the sole key light. No supplementary lighting was rigged; the crew scheduled seven consecutive mornings to secure the shot under consistent-enough conditions.

The approach was as much a production decision as a creative one — Halcyon’s brief asked specifically for something that couldn’t be mistaken for a studio setup, and the finished spot’s grain, light falloff, and slightly uneven exposure across the frame are all real artifacts of the space rather than added in post.

A warm, amber-forward grade built to protect the natural falloff of the window light rather than even it out — the far side of the room stays genuinely underexposed.
