Dana Whitcross

Dana Whitcross began at Loupe in the grip department and moved into gaffing in 2017, developing a specialty in tungsten and practical-based lighting design that pairs closely with Theo Bramwell’s shooting style. Much of her work involves augmenting a location’s existing fixtures rather than replacing them — adjusting a practical lamp’s bulb temperature or dimming a fixture already built into a set rather than rigging around it.

She designed the lighting package for “Marrow,” built almost entirely from the decommissioned meatpacking facility’s own existing fixtures, and has since become the studio’s lead on any production shooting in a found or practical-heavy location.
